Titanium Fasteners

Hex bolts, socket head screws, threaded rod, studs, U-bolts and nuts in Grade 2 and Grade 5. Mixed sizes and small batches are a normal part of what we quote, not an exception.

Overview

Titanium fasteners are bought for one of three reasons: seawater, weight, or chemical resistance. The grade follows from the reason. Grade 2 where the environment is the problem and the load is modest; Grade 5 where the joint has to carry real load without a weight penalty; Grade 23 where the application is precision or regulated.

The orders tend to be small and mixed — a maintenance kit, a refit, a set of fastener sizes for a machine build. That is the kind of work a one-stop titanium supplier handles well and a mill often will not.

Sizes, thread forms and finishes are confirmed per enquiry. Where a figure depends on the specific order it is confirmed in the quotation — please contact us for confirmation.

Standards referenced

Fasteners can be produced to dimensional and material standards that match your existing system:

  • DIN 931 / DIN 933 — the German standards for part-threaded and fully threaded hex bolts, widely used across European industry.
  • ASTM F675 — a standard referenced for titanium fasteners; compliance is confirmed per order against the specific part and grade.
  • GB/T — the Chinese fastener standards, relevant where a project mixes GB and international components.
  • Customer drawings — non-standard studs, spacers and bespoke parts.

We reference these standards to describe the dimensional system and the material context of a fastener. A fastener that matches a standard's dimensions is not the same thing as a fastener certified under that standard, and where certification is required it is confirmed in the quotation.

Grades and strength

Fastener material options
GradeNominal strength levelTypical use
Grade 2 (CP Ti)Min. 345 MPa tensileSeawater and chemical service where the environment, not the load, is the driver
Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)Min. 895 MPa tensileLoad-bearing joints, motorsport, weight-critical assemblies
Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI)Min. 860 MPa tensile, controlled interstitialsPrecision and regulated applications where the ELI grade is called up

Tensile values are standard minimums from the relevant ASTM specification, not measured results for a specific batch, and are given for guidance in choosing a grade.

Property classes are not claimed without evidence. Metric property classes such as 8.8 or 10.9 are defined for steel, and their titanium equivalents are not simply transferable. If your specification calls a strength grade, tell us exactly what it says and we will confirm what can be supplied and certified — we will not restate a steel property class as if it were a titanium one.

Mixed-size ordering and sample packs

This is the part of the fastener business where a one-stop supplier is genuinely different. If you need twenty of one size, fifty of another, and a handful of a third, that is an order we will quote as one requisition. For a first purchase, a small mixed pack is often the sensible way to check thread quality and fit before committing to production quantities.

Marine and motorsport context

Marine is the largest single use, because titanium threaded rod, studs and U-bolts solve the problem of fasteners that corrode faster than the structure they hold. Motorsport and performance applications use Grade 5 where reducing unsprung or rotating mass matters.

A repeat-order context

A European welding and fabrication business has placed repeat orders covering Grade 2 threaded rod with matching nuts in a fine metric thread, alongside machined parts and tube on the same purchase orders. Repeat business on small fasteners like this is the pattern a comprehensive supplier is built for, since the quantities are well below what a mill would schedule.

On fastener photography: we publish only a small number of fastener images, because the frames available to us do not represent the range well and we will not use an image that misrepresents what is being supplied. If you want to see the actual product for a specific size, ask and we will send photographs of the material for your order.

Send your fastener size list — sizes, quantities, grade and standard — however mixed it is.

Frequently asked questions

Do you supply small quantities of titanium fasteners?
Yes. Mixed sizes and small quantities are a normal order for us — a maintenance kit or a refit list is typical. Send the sizes and quantities you actually need and they will be quoted as one requisition.
Are titanium bolts as strong as steel bolts?
It depends on the grade and on the steel you are comparing with. Grade 5 titanium has a minimum tensile strength of 895 MPa, which is comparable to a medium-strength alloy steel bolt, at roughly half the density. Grade 2 is significantly weaker. Titanium is chosen for corrosion resistance and weight, not simply for strength.
Can you supply titanium bolts to DIN or ASTM standards?
Dimensional standards such as DIN 931 and DIN 933 are referenced routinely, and ASTM F675 is referenced for titanium fasteners. Where a specific standard and certification is required, state it in the enquiry so it can be confirmed before the order is placed.
Do you supply metric and imperial threads?
Both can be quoted. Tell us the thread form and pitch you need, or send the mating part or a drawing.
Can I get a sample before ordering production quantities?
Yes. A small mixed sample pack is often the sensible first step, particularly if the thread form or the finish has to match something existing. Sampling is quoted per request.
What surface finishes are available?
Titanium fasteners are normally supplied with a plain machined or as-rolled finish. If you need a specific finish or a coating, tell us what the specification requires.

Titanium stock supply & custom machining

Titanium mill products are available from stock across a broad range of grades and sizes through our Baoji manufacturing and supply network. Send your exact grade, standard, dimensions and quantity to confirm the stock match, documents and dispatch date.

Custom titanium machined parts: 3–30 days. Lead time depends on drawing complexity, quantity, tolerance and inspection requirements. The production start date is agreed with the order; international transit is additional.

Enquiries welcome from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Include your destination country, units, delivery terms and documentation requirements.
