Titanium Flanges

Weld neck, slip-on, blind and plate flanges in Grade 2, 5, 7 and 9 — bored, faced and drilled to ASME B16.5, EN 1092-1 or HG dimensions, or to your own drawing.

Overview

A flange is the interface between titanium pipework and everything else, so it has to match the system it bolts into: the same dimensional standard, the same pressure class, the same facing and the same bolt circle. That is why flange enquiries should always state the standard rather than just the outside diameter.

Flanges are machined from forged or rolled blanks, which means the same enquiry can cover both the flange and the pipe it will join — useful when a fabrication package is being sourced in one go.

Flange types

Flange types quoted
TypeWhere it is usedNotes
Weld neck (WN)Higher pressure and cyclic serviceLong tapered hub, butt-welded to the pipe; the strongest joint
Slip-on (SO)General low and medium pressure servicePipe passes through and is fillet-welded both sides

Standards

  • ASME B16.5 — the dimensional standard for pipe flanges up to 24 inch nominal size, covering pressure classes from 150 to 2500.
  • EN 1092-1 — the European flange standard, specified by PN rating rather than by class.
  • HG 20592 — the Chinese chemical-industry flange standard, frequently called up by Chinese-designed plant projects and recognised internationally.
  • Customer drawings — non-standard and bespoke flanges.

ASME classes and EN PN ratings are not directly interchangeable even where the dimensions are close. State which system your pipeline uses, and the facing type as well.

Facings and gasket notes

Common facing types
FacingDescriptionMating gasket
Raised face (RF)A raised ring around the bore; the most common facingSpiral-wound or sheet gasket to suit the medium
Flat face (FF)Fully flat face; used where the mating flange is cast iron or non-metallicFull-face gasket
Ring type joint (RTJ)Grooved face for a metal ring; used in high-pressure serviceMetal ring joint gasket
Gaskets are not supplied as standard. We quote flanges machined to the facing your system requires. Tell us the facing type and the gasket you intend to use if the sealing interface is critical.

Sizes and pressure classes — inquiry based

The range of sizes and classes that can be produced is wide but depends on the blank availability, the machining involved and the quantity. Rather than publish a matrix that would be out of date and potentially misleading, we confirm the feasible combination against your actual requirement.

Send the standard, the nominal size and the pressure class — for example “ASME B16.5 weld neck, NPS 6, class 150, RF, Grade 2” or “EN 1092-1 type 11, DN80, PN16” — and we will confirm availability, price and lead time. Availability is subject to confirmation at inquiry.

From tube to flange: matched orders

Flanges and the pipe they connect are normally needed in the same quantity and the same grade. Ordering them together can mean one document set and one inspection regime, and where the order can be consolidated, one shipment — and it removes the risk of a grade mismatch between the flange and the pipe at the weld.

Send the flange standard, size, pressure class and grade and we will confirm availability and price.

Frequently asked questions

Which standards do your titanium flanges follow?
Flanges are machined to ASME B16.5, EN 1092-1 or HG 20592 dimensions, or to a customer drawing for non-standard parts. Always state which standard and which pressure class your pipeline uses.
Are ASME class 150 and EN PN16 flanges interchangeable?
Not directly. The two systems are dimensionally similar in some sizes and not in others, and the bolt circles and facings can differ. Tell us which system the pipeline follows and the flange will be machined to that standard.
Do you supply flanges in Grade 2 and Grade 5?
Yes, along with Grade 7 for aggressive chemical service and Grade 9 where weldability or forming matters. Grade 2 is the most common for chemical and seawater duty; Grade 5 where strength is the driver.
Can you supply flanges together with the matching pipe?
Yes, and it is normally the better way to buy them. Matching the flange and pipe in one enquiry gives one document set, and where the order can be consolidated, one shipment — and it removes any risk of a grade mismatch at the weld.
Do you have standard flanges in stock?
We do not publish a stock list because a list that is not live misleads buyers. Send the standard, size, class and grade and we will confirm what can be supplied and on what timing.

Titanium stock supply & custom machining

Titanium mill products are available from stock across a broad range of grades and sizes through our Baoji manufacturing and supply network. Send your exact grade, standard, dimensions and quantity to confirm the stock match, documents and dispatch date.

Custom titanium machined parts: 3–30 days. Lead time depends on drawing complexity, quantity, tolerance and inspection requirements. The production start date is agreed with the order; international transit is additional.

Enquiries welcome from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Include your destination country, units, delivery terms and documentation requirements.
