Titanium Forgings & Rings

Rolled rings from φ100 mm to φ1800 mm, forged and machined discs, blocks and cakes — supplied to ASTM B381 in Grade 2, 5, 9 and 12, and quoted from your drawing.

Overview

Forging is what you specify when the shape, the grain flow or the size rules out bar. A large diameter ring for a flange or a vessel nozzle, a disc that will be machined into a pump component, a block that will be cut into several parts — these are forged because the alternative would waste material or produce the wrong structure.

Forged material is supplied either as a near-net shape or as a rough-machined blank, depending on how much material you want to remove yourself. If you send the finished drawing we will quote the forge envelope that leaves the sensible machining allowance.

Standards

  • ASTM B381 — titanium and titanium alloy forgings. The specification that defines the grades, conditions and mechanical requirements for forged product.
  • ASME SB381 / SA-381 — the ASME designation of the same specification, called up where the forged component is part of a code-stamped assembly.
  • Customer drawings — dimensional and inspection requirements for the specific part.

ASTM B381 groups forgings into classes according to the quality and inspection regime applied. Which class your component needs is a question for your own engineering specification — tell us the class and we will confirm whether it can be produced, rather than assuming the highest one.

From forging to finished part

  1. Drawing reviewWe check the finished geometry against what can be forged and machined, and confirm the forge envelope and the machining allowance.
  2. ForgingThe blank is produced at the partner works by ring rolling, open-die forging or press forging as the shape requires.
  3. Heat treatmentAnnealing, or solution treatment and ageing where the grade and the property requirements call for it.
  4. Rough machiningWhere specified, the blank is rough-machined to a defined allowance so you receive a part close to finished size.
  5. Inspection and documentationDimensional check to drawing, MTC with heat traceability, and any additional inspection agreed in the quotation.

Order by drawing

Forged parts are quoted from drawings. DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES and PDF drawings are all workable, and a scanned or photographed drawing is enough to start a feasibility discussion. What we need alongside the drawing is the grade, the quantity, the condition, the inspection class if your specification calls one up, and any lead-time constraint.

No customer drawings are published and no customer is named. Drawings you send are used only to quote and produce your order, and are treated as confidential.

Applications

Upload your drawing and we will confirm the forge envelope, the allowance and the price.

Upload your drawing

Send the finished part drawing with the grade, quantity and condition. If your specification calls up an ASTM B381 class or a particular heat treatment, include it and the quote will be against that requirement rather than a general one.

Frequently asked questions

What size titanium rings can you supply?
Rolled rings from 100 mm to 1,800 mm outside diameter with a wall of 10 mm or more are quotable. Larger or thinner sections depend on the geometry — send the drawing and we will confirm.
Which standard applies to titanium forgings?
ASTM B381 covers titanium and titanium alloy forgings, and ASME SB381 or SA-381 is the designation used where the part falls under the ASME codes. The class called up by your own engineering specification sets the inspection regime.
Can you machine the forging to a finished part?
Yes. Forgings can be supplied as-rolled, rough-machined to an allowance, or finish-machined to drawing. Which is most economical depends on your own machining capacity and the geometry — tell us what you would prefer to do in-house.
What file formats can you quote a forging from?
DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES and PDF drawings all work, as does a scanned or photographed drawing for an initial feasibility check.
Do you forge titanium yourself?
No. We are a titanium supplier, not a forging mill. Forging is carried out by qualified producers within our Baoji supply network, and we handle the specification, the commercial terms, the documentation and the export.

Titanium stock supply & custom machining

Titanium mill products are available from stock across a broad range of grades and sizes through our Baoji manufacturing and supply network. Send your exact grade, standard, dimensions and quantity to confirm the stock match, documents and dispatch date.

Custom titanium machined parts: 3–30 days. Lead time depends on drawing complexity, quantity, tolerance and inspection requirements. The production start date is agreed with the order; international transit is additional.

Enquiries welcome from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Include your destination country, units, delivery terms and documentation requirements.
